Jackson, Miss. – A tragic crash involving a four-wheeler and two pickup trucks left one person dead and another critically injured in Jackson early Sunday morning. The incident occurred in the 2500 block of South Gallatin Street, in front of the Canon Nissan dealership, just before 4:15 a.m. on July 20, 2025.

According to the Jackson Police Department (JPD), the four-wheeler was occupied by two individuals. The driver was critically injured and transported to a local hospital, while the passenger, identified as 22-year-old Brendon Keys, was fatally injured. The Hinds County Coroner was called to the scene, along with JPD’s accident investigations unit and mobile crime unit, to process the incident.

Police reported that one of the pickup truck drivers remained at the scene and is cooperating with authorities. The other pickup truck driver fled before officers arrived, and their identity remains unknown. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, with JPD noting that it is unclear what led to the collision at this time. Authorities have also highlighted that ATVs are not street-legal in Mississippi, and no license is required to operate them, which may have contributed to the circumstances of the accident.

The Jackson Police Department is seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation. Anyone with details about the crash or the driver who left the scene is urged to contact JPD at 601-960-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 601-355-TIPS (8477).

The community mourns the loss of Brendon Keys, and authorities are working diligently to uncover the full details of this tragic event.
