Xavier Jones Sr., 20, Fatally Shot in North Austin Home Invasion; All Six Suspects Charged with Capital Murder Were Out on Bond at Time of Crime

On the night of November 25, 2024, 20-year-old Xavier Jones Sr. was tragically killed during a home invasion at his residence in the 400 block of East Wonsley Drive in North Austin. According to the Austin Police Department, multiple armed suspects forcibly entered Jones’s apartment by shooting through the rear sliding glass door. Once inside, they assaulted a woman, pointed a gun at a child, and stole cash and jewelry before fleeing the scene. Jones was found with multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

In the days following the incident, law enforcement agencies, including the U.S. Marshals Service and the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force, arrested six individuals in connection with the murder:

  • Jon Charles Willard Jr., 20(FOX 7 Austin)
  • Camron Josh-Anthony Perkins, 22(KEYE)
  • Lorance Jones, 22
  • Judaren Makeel Forbes, 20(KEYE)
  • Corey Rashad Keazer, 20(KEYE)
  • Rhianna Doreen Farillas, 21

All six have been charged with capital murder.

Investigations revealed that five of the six suspects were out on bond for unrelated violent offenses at the time of Jones’s murder. This has sparked renewed debates over bail reform and public safety in Travis County. Critics argue that the current bail system allows repeat offenders to remain free, posing risks to the community.

Xavier Jones’s family has expressed deep frustration and grief over the circumstances of his death. In a statement, his mother, Yvonne Jones, said, “They should have never been free on bond considering all of the heinous crimes they have committed, and it is within the hopes of our family they will never be set free again.”

The case remains under active investigation. Authorities urge anyone with additional information to contact the Austin Police Department at 512-974-TIPS or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers program. (Facebook)

This tragic incident underscores the complexities of the current bail system and its implications for community safety. As the legal proceedings continue, the community mourns the loss of a young life and calls for meaningful reforms to prevent such tragedies in the future.
