Tragic Shooting Claims Life of Woman Outside North Philadelphia Church

A 29-year-old woman lost her life in a tragic shooting outside a church in North Philadelphia in the early hours of Friday, July 18, 2025. The incident occurred shortly after 12:40 a.m. on the 2000 block of West Lehigh Avenue, near the Deliverance Evangelistic Church.
Philadelphia police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area. Upon arrival, officers found the woman lying unresponsive on the sidewalk next to a metal fence outside the church, bleeding heavily from multiple gunshot wounds to her head, face, and torso. Eight spent shell casings from a semi-automatic weapon were discovered near her body, indicating the shooter fired at close range. Authorities believe the woman was the intended target of the attack.
Officers rushed her to Temple University Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 12:59 a.m. The victim’s identity has not been officially released by police, pending notification of her family, but friends have identified her as Keisha. No arrests have been made, and police have not yet provided a description of the suspect or a motive for the shooting. Investigators are actively searching for surveillance footage in the area to aid in the ongoing investigation.
