Tragic Needles Shooting: One Killed, Two Critically Injured in Early Morning Violence

A tragic shooting in a Needles, California, neighborhood early Wednesday morning, July 23, 2025, resulted in one fatality and two individuals airlifted for medical treatment, according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department (SBCSD).

At approximately 6:39 a.m., emergency responders were dispatched to the 1900 block of Erin Drive following reports of multiple gunshot victims. Upon arrival, first responders discovered three individuals with gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the other two were airlifted by Classic Air Medical to nearby hospitals for treatment. The severity of the surviving victims’ injuries has not been disclosed.

Dispatch logs indicate a prior call at 5:44 a.m. reporting an assault in the same block. Authorities have not confirmed whether this earlier incident is connected to the shooting.

Due to the severity of the crime, the SBCSD Homicide Detail has assumed control of the investigation. A large perimeter was established around the crime scene, with road closures at the intersection of Erin Drive and Coronado. The public was advised to avoid the area to facilitate law enforcement operations.

To support the response, the San Bernardino County Fire Department requested mutual aid from the Mohave Valley Fire Department, which provided two additional medics, two engines, and a duty chief. On the Arizona side of the Colorado River, authorities temporarily closed the southeast corner of Highway 95 and Barrackman Road to create a landing zone for the air ambulances.

Local residents reported significant police presence and complete road closures from Coronado to Earl Court, with all access points along Erin Drive blocked off during the investigation.

The identities of the deceased and injured victims have not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The motive for the shooting and the circumstances leading up to the incident remain under active investigation by the SBCSD.
