HOLLISTER, NC — A domestic dispute on the morning of Tuesday, July 1, 2025, escalated into a dangerous car chase that ended in a crash and multiple charges for 24-year-old Taevon Evans of Warrenton.

At approximately 9:00 a.m., Deputy D. Wilson and Corporal M. Sledge of the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call reporting a domestic disturbance at a retail store located at Highway 561 and Evans Road in Hollister. Upon arrival, deputies encountered Taevon Evans engaged in an intense argument with a female victim.

As officers approached, Evans reportedly became irate and fled the scene in the female victim’s vehicle. When Deputy Wilson attempted a traffic stop, Evans refused to pull over, prompting a high-speed pursuit that spanned into Warren County.

The chase came to an end when Evans crashed the stolen vehicle on Richardson Road. He was immediately taken into custody at the scene.

Evans now faces several serious charges, including:

• Felony Flee to Elude Arrest
• Resisting a Public Officer
• Larceny of a Motor Vehicle

Following his arrest, Taevon Evans was issued a $2,500 secured bond and is scheduled to appear in court on July 24, 2025.

Officials from the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office emphasized the potentially dangerous nature of the situation and the importance of rapid law enforcement intervention. “This incident could have ended much worse,” said a department spokesperson. “We’re thankful no one was injured during the pursuit.”

The female victim’s identity has not been released, and further details about the domestic incident remain under investigation.
