In the early hours of Sunday, May 18, 2025, a tragic hit-and-run incident claimed the life of 27-year-old Cassandra I. Hernandez, a resident of Weslaco, Texas. The fatal collision occurred at approximately 5:59 a.m. on Mile 4 West Road, just north of Mile 12 ½ Road North. According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Hernandez was walking southbound in the southbound lane when she was struck by an unknown dark-colored passenger car, which was also traveling southbound.
