Born and raised in St. Marys, Ben’s roots in the community were deep and enduring. He began his academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from GMI Engineering and Management Institute (now Kettering University) in Flint, Michigan. During his time at GMI, he participated in a co-op program with General Motors Canada in Oshawa, gaining valuable experience in the engineering field. Driven by a desire to serve and make a meaningful impact, Ben transitioned to the field of law. He joined the firm now known as Waghorn, Stephens, Sipos & Poulton in 1996 as a first-year law student. After being called to the Bar in February 2000, Ben’s early legal practice encompassed various areas, including litigation and solicitor’s work. By 2006, he focused primarily on solicitor’s work, specializing in real estate, estate planning, estate administration, and corporate and commercial law. During his law school years, he co-coached a local mixed soccer team of 9 and 10-year-olds, demonstrating his dedication to youth development.
