Tragic End in Oak Park: Husband and Wife Found Dead in Suspected Murder-Suicide

San Diego, CA – A tragic incident in the Oak Park neighborhood has left a married couple dead in what authorities have determined to be a murder-suicide, the San Diego Police Department announced Thursday.
Michelle Booker-Stewart, 51, and her husband, Nathaniel Stewart, 57, were found deceased inside their home in the 5500 block of Timothy Drive on Saturday, July 26, 2025, shortly before 9:50 a.m. The discovery followed a 9:47 a.m. call reporting a domestic violence-related shooting at the residence.
According to homicide Lt. Arturo Swadener, Southeastern Division officers arrived at the scene and found a woman, later identified as Michelle Booker-Stewart, suffering from a gunshot wound to her upper torso. While officers provided aid, a second team located a man, identified as Nathaniel Stewart, in a separate room with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Despite life-saving efforts by responding officers and San Diego Fire-Rescue paramedics, Michelle Booker-Stewart succumbed to her injuries and was also pronounced dead at the scene.
The San Diego Police Department has classified the incident as a murder-suicide, with Nathaniel Stewart believed to have shot his wife before taking his own life. Authorities have stated there is no known ongoing threat to the community.
Homicide detectives are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The police have not released additional details about the events leading up to the incident but are seeking information from the public to aid in their investigation.
