Bay Point, CA – July 5, 2025 — A quiet early morning in the Bay Point community was shattered by gunfire, prompting an urgent response from local law enforcement and emergency personnel. The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office has launched a homicide investigation following a deadly shooting that occurred just after 1:00 a.m. on Harbor Drive.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, deputies from Muir Station were dispatched at approximately 1:02 a.m. on Saturday morning, July 5, in response to reports of shots fired in a residential area on Harbor Drive. Upon arrival, deputies discovered a victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds lying in front of a residence.

Deputies immediately initiated life-saving measures in an attempt to stabilize the victim until personnel from the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District and paramedics arrived. Despite their efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

At this time, the victim’s identity is being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

Sheriff’s Homicide Unit Investigating

The Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives, along with Crime Lab technicians, responded promptly to the scene to begin their investigation. Officers were observed collecting evidence, canvassing the neighborhood, and interviewing potential witnesses in an effort to piece together what led to the fatal shooting.
