RACINE, WI — The Racine community is grappling with profound grief following the tragic death of 11-year-old Jesus “Chucho” Valladares, who was accidentally shot and killed by his 16-year-old brother on the night of Friday, May 16, 2025. The incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. inside the family’s home near Howard and Prospect Streets. A Vibrant Life Cut Short

Known affectionately as “Chucho,” Jesus Valladares was a fifth-grade student at Wadewitz Elementary School. Family members described him as energetic, kind-hearted, and always eager to help. “He was full of life,” said his cousin, Dolores Villarreal. “Always playing outside, always willing to help my grandma because we recently lost our grandpa eight months ago. According to the Racine Police Department, the preliminary investigation indicates that Chucho was accidentally shot by his 16-year-old brother inside their home.
